What to do with your dog in Castle Coombe

Castle Coombe is a picturesque village in Wiltshire with lovely country dog-walking routes.

My friend and I took our pooches for a 5km walk around the village. You can do this walk in the morning and have lunch in one of the dog-friendly eateries (pubs, restaurants, cafes, etc.) in the village, including The Old Stables where we stopped for coffee and cake (gluten and dairy tolerances are catered for – just ask!).

There are car parks for visitors, we were lucky to find a free space on the side of a road just before the main carpark. The walk includes woods, streams, a gold course, roads and fields. Most of which you can walk with your dog off the lead. The dogs particularly enjoyed playing by (Sasha) and in (Willow) the water, and through the woods. In the village itself, we didn’t see much to do, other than eat and drink, apart from a little bridge where kids and dogs were playing in the water.

This was the dogs’ first meeting. The 14 week old puppy and 10 year old senior got on really well. They started a little rocky with Willow excitably jumping on Sash, but by the end of the walk they were walking and playing like best friends.

How could anyone not love that little face? She really really really wanted some of the cake from the @oldstablecastlecoombe.
