Dog-friendly Bristol – Ashton Court

I am a Bristolian and unashamedly biased towards our great city. There is no way that I can cover all of the exciting things to do in one post. Instead, I will write a number of mini-posts about some of the places worth visiting.

Ashton Court is a large estate with 850 acres of grounds open to the public. There are two car parks for visitors with a £1 charge for the day. It has everything from woodlands, deer park, rose gardens, grand mansion (you can’t go inside), mountain biking courses, an 18-hole golf course, a café and beautiful views of south Bristol. The best part is that you can enjoy it all with your dog, other than the deer park. You take your dog for a beautiful walk, attend the famous balloon fiesta or to play golf, foot golf and disc golf. Please do follow the golf course etiquette and not take your dog if they’re prone to chasing balls!

After a morning at Ashton Court, my partner and I often visit the Ashton for a drink and/or food. The Ashton is a dog-friendly gastro pub that has lovely outdoor seating for the summer and a cosy interior (including fire) for the winter.

  1. This park is beautiful. We have a similar park nearby with rose gardens and woods called Washington Park in Portland, Oregon. That balloon fiesta looks so cool! Thanks for sharing your adventure 🙂
