Dog-friendly Bristol – Westonbirt Arboretum

There is not a more perfect place to experience autumn (aka ‘fall’ for those over the pond) in and around Bristol than at the Westonbirt Arboretum. The magic of this place is the variety of trees and shrubbery and with that the abundance of colours. They have a number of events, which can be fun with kids such as the Enchanted Christmas, but I would strongly recommend going up on a clear autumn day.

The arboretum is in Tetbury (GL8 8QS), about 20-25 minutes drive outside of Bristol. You will likely need to drive there. You can usually turn up and buy tickets on the door (£8-£11 depending on time of year), but their COVID measures now need you to book tickets in advance.

Once at the Arboretum you can grab some refreshments from the café and food stalls and head off. Their map shows a number of different routes that you can take. None of them are difficult or overly exerting. Your pooch can go everywhere other than the Old Arboretum and inside the main restaurant – you’re really not missing much and the restaurant has a large outside seating area.

  1. That looks like such a neat place to visit. That one carving with the face and the bird…I’d be trying to figure out a way to get it home. And any place that has ice cream for dogs is a real treat. Get it? 😉
